Profile of a Velondriake Scholar

Valerio is one of the future superstars of Velondriake. He is the president of Club Alo Alo as well as student in the Blue Ventures scholarship programme. Here he talks about the importance of education and looking after the environment.

Environmental song and poetry contest

An environmental song and poetry contest was held in honour of the partnership launch between Velondriake, UNICEF and Blue Ventures. Emile Espritin, a member of Club Aloalo and a participant in the Connecting Classrooms project, performed a poem about the Velondriake association and the Velondriake Locally-Managed Marine Area.

Radio show - Feom'bezo

The Velondriake Management Committee works hard to keep the community informed of its many conservation activities, and of how these benefit the community. To this end, in September 2011 Velondriake began producing a bi-monthly radio show, called Feom'Bezo (The Voice of the Vezo) in partnership with Blue Ventures, sharing news from across its array of projects. Blue Ventures BBC World Challenge 2010

Voting has opened for the World Challenge 2010 Award, an international competition organised by BBC World News and Newsweek magazine to champion projects showing enterprise and innovation at a grassroots level.

Blue Ventures is one of this year’s 12 finalists, selected from over 800 nominations worldwidefor its work in using social enterprise to drive sustainable community-based conservation initiatives. Vote for us here!
