Overfishing in Madagascar (Reuters)
Andavadoaka, 18 July 2009 (Reuters) The Vezo are a community in south-west Madagascar who have depended on the sea for centuries, catching fish to eat and to trade for other food like rice.
Message from Andavadoaka
In 2005, Andavadoaka established the first community-run marine reserve. This film tells the story of this reserve and their plans for the future.
Andavadoaka wins the UNDP Equator Prize
M. Roger, President of the Velondriake Committee, is presented with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Equator Prize, announced in May 2007.
